A note on pronunciation: The word “eunoia” is the only word in English that uses every vowel (besides “y” which doesn’t really count). It has been my favorite word for more than a decade, ever since I heard poet Christian Bök read from his book by the same name. The word comes from Ancient Greek and translates to something close to “beautiful thinking” or “well mind”. In the context of this newsletter and my moniker on X, I think of eunoia/euv0ia as aspirational. To develop the character of beautiful thinking — it’s something to shoot for.

What’s this newsletter about?

I deeply believe the limit of human potential is so far beyond what most people assume that we have barely scratched the surface of our capabilities. I’m not just talking about humanity. I’m talking about individual humans. I believe the future belongs to the generalists and that the time is ripe for a kind of intellectual, creative renaissance.

The internet and digital tools, especially artificial intelligence, have absolutely blown the lid off of gate kept and bottlenecked knowledge and creativity. There is no reason the average person couldn’t take up the mantle of heroic forebears and start asking some real questions about Reality, given a willingness to develop excellence.

Basically: I think it’s possible to increase intelligence, boost creativity, and enhance decision making through effortful, thoughtful training and good habits.

So I’m going to do it.

Here’s the plan:

The Euv0ia Project is a personal log of my experiments as I attempt to increase my own intelligence to live a better life. I will be building an ongoing library of resources as well so others can follow along.

My goals are to:

  • Increase my own fluid intelligence

  • Improve my memory

  • Learn mathematics, philosophy, logic, and mental models

  • Read more, take better notes, and share what I’m learning

  • Explain what I’m doing so you can replicate my process

I want to live a more intelligent life in pursuit of fundamental reality. I want to explore interesting ideas with interesting people.
